Conductive Carbon Black for Lithium Ion Battery Applications

Nowadays there is a rapid development in lithium ion batteries because of their usage in electronics like mobile phones and electric vehicles. There are basically anode and cathode parts of lithium ion batteries and when we look at the cathode part we can see that it consists of particles of active material and inactive materials. For inactive materials we can give conductive additives as an example.
Conductive additive plays a role in increasing in the electric conductivity. For conductive additives carbon black can be given as an example. Conductive Carbon Black for Lithium Ion Battery Applications optimizes the electrical conductivity of the positive electrode but is not involved in the electrochemical redox process in lithium ion battery.
Actually the main duty of carbon black in lithium ion battery is to contribute to enhancing the cathode cyclability by filling the free spaces in between the particles of active material. So by this action the electrode conductivity increases.
Carbon black is a good choice to be used as conductive material in lithium ion batteries due to their low cost, low weight, high chemical inertness and property of being nontoxic. Also carbon black provides higher battery capacity and rate capability. To have a higher battery stability and high voltage charging for high energy carbon black will be a good choice. In some studies it has been observed that carbon black improves the battery cycle life. Since carbon black has low weight, you may load higher solids which enables higher coating speeds and this reduces battery manufacturing cost.

Titanium Carbide Powders and Applications

Titanium carbide which has the chemical formula of TiC attracted great interest for many structural applications due to its extremely high melting temperature, high hardness, high chemical resistance and good electrical conductivity. Therefore titanium carbide can be used in cutting tools, grinding wheels, wear-resistant coatings, high temperature heat exchangers, magnetic recording heads, turbine engine seals, and bullet-proof vests, etc. In addition, a promising field of application comprises plasma and flame spraying processes in air, where titanium carbide-based powders show high-phase stability. TiC(Titanium Carbide Powder) (325 mesh, 99,9+%)  can also be used in biomedical implant devices. Materials used for biomedical implant devices must satisfy a variety of property demands, which are often mutually exclusive. Further, different parts of a device demand different material properties. These factors often make it difficult to manufacture a medical device using a...

Carbon Nanotubes Doped with Graphene Nanopowder and Applications

Carbon nanotubes and graphene are different forms of carbon atom based materials. They have different properties and can be used in various applications. But what happens if we use them as a hybrid structure? The excellent mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of low-dimensional carbon materials like graphene and carbon nanotube have enabled them as promising building blocks for three-dimensional nanoarchitectures. In this regard, extensive interests have been attracted to synthesize graphene and carbon nanotube hybrid structures. Earlier works suggested that  Carbon Nanotubes Doped with Graphene Nanopowder (52 wt% Graphene )  is a promising solution for quick energy dissipation, which could enhance interface thermal conductivity of the ‘building blocks’ for future nanoscale mechanical and electrical devices. In the electricity perspective, it is found that ‘CNT pillared-graphene’ system would extend the excellent electrical conductivity of graphene and nanotube to ...
Carbon Nanotubes Specifications and Properties Carbon Nanotubes, simply CNTs, are allotropes of carbon with a round and hollow nanostructure. These barrel shaped carbon molecules have crucial properties, which are significant for nanotechnology, hardware, optics and other different fields of materials science and innovation. The carbon nanotube’s excellent quality as a strong and firm material laid the basis on many applications. Not to mention carbon nanotubes exceptional heat conductivity, electrical and mechanical properties, Carbon Nanotubes are used as additives to diverse auxiliary materials. In terms of rigidity and flexibility Carbon Nanotubes are the stiffest and strongest materials. These quality outcomes from the covalent sp2 bonds framed between the individual carbon molecules. Unlike Graphene , Carbon Nanotubes are either conductive or semiconducting along the tubular hub. Carbon Nanotubes also have absorption, fluorescence properties. Bulk Carbon nanotubes are util...
